2025 CSA Sign-up opens January 1st!

First, what’s a CSA?

Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) represents a connection between the farmer and the consumer – a true acknowledgement of where our food comes from. Being a CSA member means you buy a share of our farm’s harvest in advance. Your membership fee helps us buy seed and other inputs needed to operate for the growing season. And in return, you’ll receive a variety of freshly picked delicious produce from our farm every week or every other week.

CSAs are not just a buying relationship – it’s a relationship with the farm itself, with the land, and between the farmer and the CSA member.

What we grow

At Lovefood Farm, we offer a beautiful variety of seasonal herbs and veggies in our packed CSA shares. We offer these shares at several pick-up locations and through home delivery. Our goal is to provide healthy, clean, delicious vegetables to our community in ALL conditions (in rain or shine, in sickness or health).

We grow about 70 different herb and vegetable crops and you can expect a wide variety of produce throughout the season. We always aim to include a root vegetable, leafy green, salad green and herb as a basis for every share.

For example, your seasonal shares could include:

Spring Share
Lettuce Heads x2, Curly Kale, Radish, Garlic Scapes, Dill, Bok Choy, Snap Peas, Scallions, Arugula

Summer Share
Salad Mix, Rainbow Chard, Green Beans, Beets, Basil, Fresh Onions, Cucumber, Zucchini, Cherry Tomatoes, Heirloom Tomatoes, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers

Fall Share (main season)
Broccoli, Parsley, Spinach, Butternut Squash, Turnips, Shallots, Garlic, Leeks, Lettuce Heads x2, Italian Kale, Carrots, Spinach

Fall Share (late season)
Cabbage, Spinach, Kale, Garlic, Onions, Beets, Salad Turnips, Mixed Root Bag (daikon, beauty heart radish, storage turnips and black radishes)

Our Growing Practices

Our vegetables are certified organic!  That means they are grown without using synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Our farm’s fertilization comes from materials like compost, seaweed and composted poultry manure.  In some cases, certified organic pesticides may be used for intense infestations (potato beetles when given the chance will take out eggplants, tomatoes and potatoes VERY quickly) but generally, the first line of defense is hand-picking bugs from plants before they become a problem as well as physical barriers like insect netting. For more information about our practices or organic production in general, please ask. We’re always happy to talk farming.

 Why join our CSA?

1) Veggies does Your body good

It’s a well known fact that a diet rich in veggies does wonders for your health and well-being. When you’re a Lovefood CSA member, you’ll be able enjoy our healthy, organic produce while having the satisfaction of knowing exactly where it came from – carefully harvested by hand on our family farm in good ol’ Stoughton, WI.

2) Health Insurance Benefits to Boot

Health insurance rebates for CSA membership are available through GHC. The total allowable reimbursement is $100 per individual or $200 per household. Quartz also offer incentives for CSA membership which work on a points basis and result in a rebate. For more information, check out this resource.

3) OUR FARM PARTY!

A benefit from being part of a CSA and having a relationship with a farm is…the farm party! This land is still pretty new to us (purchased in 2018) and it always feels special to have our CSA Family come out and check out this magical spot. We do a potluck, farm tours, yard games and general chatting and wandering.

Sharing the Risk

We promise to do our best to provide you with a bountiful share each week. It is possible that the quantity of produce may vary from week-to-week due to extreme weather, insects, or other production factors despite our best efforts. By joining our CSA, you are agreeing to share the risk of appalling abundance and disappointing crop failure with us and other members.
